Downtown Container Park

I recently made my first visit to the Downtown Las Vegas Container Park.  It was a very enjoyable experience.  For those that have not yet ventured down to see it, I would definitely recommend a visit.  The Container Park is located on 7th and Fremont just a few blocks east of the Fremont Street Experience.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the number of people walking around the downtown area.  It is much more populated, well lit and safe then it was in years past.  There were tourists and locals walking around in all directions which made it feel like a real downtown city area.

The Container Park itself is very nice.  It is not real large but is just big enough for an enjoyable evening for a family or adults.  There are several restaurants in the Park and we chose to eat at Pinches Tacos.  The sign above the door said Real Mexican Food By Real Mexicans.  They weren’t lying.  The food was great.  All of us were happy with the freshness of the ingredients and they were prepared as ordered.  Great place for a quick meal.  We walked around after eating and looked at many of the shops and what they had to offer.  Not being a shopper myself I would say that there was a good variety of different things to look at for the entire family.

The Container Park is a great place to bring your kids as they have shows, plays and a fire breathing praying mantis.  The praying mantis is out front and shoots fire from its antennae’s at night.  They have a huge jungle gym in the middle that kids can climb on and they had a play for families to enjoy while sitting on the grass park in the middle of the containers.

The Container Park is something that would interest most people who live here if for no other reason than just to see how it was constructed.  Using containers has become a more economical choice of construction for housing in many other countries.  They even turned one container on its end to use as an elevator shaft.  Very creative.

All in all it is a very nice place to spend an evening with several dining opportunities and something to do for everyone.  Please keep in mind that there is no smoking allowed in the park and there are no pets allowed in the park.  Also, no one under 21 is permitted in after 9:00 PM.
